Chat Archive for Mac

Keep your conversations as readable, printable PDFs. One document per conversation, processed locally on your Mac.

In development for the Mac App Store. Not yet available for purchase.

Before you buy

Chat Archive requires an Apple silicon Mac and macOS 14 or later, plus an accessible Messages archive. It can import a Mac Messages folder, a saved Messages database, or a completed, unencrypted iPhone computer backup that contains messages.

Encrypted backups are not supported. Messages synced through iCloud may be absent from a computer backup. macOS can restrict access to the live Messages folder. Check the import requirements before purchase.

What is included

Search conversations, preview messages, and export selected chats or every chat as individual PDFs with dates, sender identifiers, and supported reactions. Exports use the history present in the imported archive, not just the preview.

Attachment filenames are included. Photos, videos, and audio are not embedded. This is not deleted-message recovery, iCloud synchronization, or certified legal evidence.

Your archive stays local

The app has no account, advertising, analytics, or upload service. It retains one private imported copy until replaced or erased. Read the privacy policy.
